College Projects

Senior Design Project

For UCSC capstone requirement I enrolled in the Senior Design Project, or SDP. My team was called Poseidon and we created an autonomous surface vessel used for scanning marine information. In layman's terms we created a robotic kayak. My role on the team was the Lead Micro controller Engineer as well as the lead Mechanical Engineer. Our kayak successfully navigated itself around Antonelies pond in Santa Cruz CA, as well as fully operated under remote control around the Santa Cruz Wharf. If you would like to know more about the engineering of Poseidon please follow the link to our formal write-up.

I am also a member of Tau Bete Pi, Engineering Honor Society, a feat that I am truly proud of, being a 3rd generation member.

Mechatronics

The other project class I will highlight on this website is Mechatronics. In this class we, Ruben, Chris and I, were given four weeks to design a robot that could launch ping pong balls across an areana at an opposing robot with an infra-red emmiter on its top. The video below is of our robot "checking off" or completing assignment by knocking a can off the top of a simulated competitor robot. Once the can gets knocked off our team has successfully passed Mechatronics, see how long it takes us to get it!
